I am horrified at how the Truancy Mafia have developed over the years.
They have the power to harass and uplift any school aged child if they find them out of school anywhere during school hours.
Who are these "officers"? Why do they have all this power? What are their qualifications?
Do they realise that there are hundreds of school age children legitimately not at school? The only children they should be concerned about are the ones missing from the school roll. The schools can issue a list to them each day and they can go and visit the families to find out what the problem is. Maybe the real issue is as Sir Ken Robinson says - schools are killing creativity - our kids are bored to death and their needs are not being met. Forcing kids to school is not the answer.
