I have been having huge debates with myself in regard to the continuance of this site.
More than likely at the end of this term I may close it down.
I am open to suggestions.
The site currently is getting well over 100 hits a day.

Advice to those who have NOT heard from any organisation is for you to polish up your CV's and to apply to the new providers when they become available next month, but also apply for other work at the same time.
(I received this advise yesterday)

FOR HIRE
A 61 year old active single male. Well experienced in the business of Truancy and Board of Trustee work. Experienced in systemic skills and working with ALL people types.
13 years experience in designing and operating the Central Taranaki DTS and 7 years the South Taranaki DTS. Builder of interesting websites. A skilled Counsellor and an all-round multi-skilled journeyman to boot. Though VERY interdependent, can also work with groups.
Listens well but has been accused of having at times the tact of a sledgehammer, but never offends. Would prefer a management position training skills for front line workers.
Prefers to work in the Taranaki Region but could be tempted, if the remuneration is attractive to move elsewhere.

The organisation that I was collaborating with for the (new) Attendance Service, the YMCA, was UNSUCCESSFUL in being accepted for the new contract.
The NEW contractors would have been informed last Friday of their success.
I have NOT been informed by any organisation to date??
I have concerns here that a new organisation has NOT started collaborating with my Services.
Here is a Quote from the MoE regarding our services.
(Quote - The MoE acknowledges that current DTS providers are the repositories of knowledge and expertise regarding supporting schools to return students to education in a timely manner with appropriate supports)
My apologies to my Staff.
This is well out of my control.
I have guaranteed your Salaries to the end of the Term 4.2012 School Holidays into the new year. This will cover you over the Christmas/New Year period as a redundancy package.
I think ALL DTS and NETS should read the comment of the MoE and come to your OWN conclusion. .... LINK HERE

We learnt today that the new provider for Truancy in our area is an organisation called NUMA. They are a Maori urban authority led by John Tamihere and Willy Jackson. NUMA have affiliates in Northland, Hamilton, South Auckland and Christchurch that i am aware of.
We have 15 plus people in our organisation who don't know what the future holds for them at the end of the year.
Political correctness and seeming to be honouring treaty obligations are to me the main reason for this organisation winning the contract. from the government. Good luck to them and I hope they can make a difference.
Response
Lets hope they remain to use those who are experts in their field (DTS)

rather than trying to re-invent the wheel.....sd

Unbelievable once again the MOE roundabout.
Do they think accessing information for schools off a website will help schools.
Let us truancy officers do the job that 90% of truancy officers are efficient at.
If they have dead wood in the system man up and get rid of it.
I am gobsmacked that they are once again dicking around with lively-hoods
Response
The thing is Lindsay, even though the MoE say that we are the experts.

I think someone politically thinks they know better. I guess time will tell the story.
its all recorded here...sd
I have heard that datacom have Invercargill, Palmerston North, Whanganui.
I have NOT heard what is happening here in Taranaki yet? My Staff are getting very anxious. To date the organisation I am collaborating with has NOT got back to me....sd
