George Waerea said: I refer everyone to Education Policies/Schools/Attendance/Information 08/07/2012,Questions and answers. Will provision be made for current truancy service employees to transfer to the Attendance service, like there was for RTLB's. Reply:The Ministry will not be specifying transfer provisions for current NETS/DTS employees. _______________ Agreed George I asked them that question. There is also a recorded statement from MoE in the Newspaper saying that they expect the New providers to approach the current DTS's. They would be foolish not to. The organisation I hope to collaborate with had virtually no knowledge at all of how a truancy service operates. This would mean also that if the so called NEW attendance service's do NOT approach existing services they will revert back to the problems we were faced with 18 years ago. I don't think the Environmental Scan will be of much help as they are really instigated by the authors of the document and possibly some providers will NOT work with a new provider. I know in my area they will work with me as they know me, but for someone else it may be a very different story. Stephan We need, more than anything else as educators to teach our children to learn how to learn!....sd | For those who are unsure of what the so called NEW Attendance Services will provide. The integrated Attendance Service will combine the functions of the current Non-Enrolled Truancy Service (NETS) and the District Truancy Services (DTS) into one integrated service. The Attendance Service will:
Ø in particular, work in ways that value and validate the identities, languages and cultures of Māori learners and Pasifika learners
[1] Unless justifiably absent __________________ As a point of interest to those Truancy Officers reading the above - Is this any different than what we have been doing for the past 18 years? You can see why I always refer to the 'so called NEW attendance Service'...sd |
