How is the service going up there?
All seems to have stopped here. Not a lot happening. It must have been an easy $191.000 to the current so called ‘new’ attendance service here.

Not very good, some schools won't use the new provider. P is stressed, his boss had a meeting with the Attendance advisers and told them they have to work harder to get kids back into full time schooling. P asked the question, ‘what do we do when the parent or child refuses to comply’, she replied "just grab them and take them to school" P's reply "We aren't allowed to do that"..
The new service should be close to a review so i am waiting for that.

Hi G
So what happened to the prosecution process, as should be applied under sect 31 Edu Act 1989?

Hi Stephan
Prosecution’s are not being pursued by the provider. MOE actions a prosecution...Not one prosecution has been done.. They are going to be sorry..

Hi G
So what they have done is, as we have told them in the past, have removed the teeth from the Lion as this was the only lever we had as Truancy Officers. You are right. They will fail!! sad!

Hi Stephan
They have no authority now. The Napier Truancy Officer was yelled at by the Lady running the service for the Taiwhenua, so she walked out.
What I have heard is that the MOE are not very happy with the poor outcomes to date.
Well what did they expect..cream puffs and fluffy ducks would get these kids back to school..
There are a lot of things this Government have got wrong.
The police have been complaining re the kids on the streets..
You have said and i will say it again WE TOLD YOU SO

I found all an interesting conversation especially if the MoE have removed the right for Truancy/Attendance Officers to prosecute. This would be a huge back step.
I would suggest that the MoE refer to the Law under Section 31.
An Attendance Officer is able to prosecute. They do NOT need permission from the MoE.
Not unless someone has changed the Law.
REFER TO THE "RED BOOK" OR CHECK OUT THE SECTION.
I hope the 'RockOn' process we set up is still operating.
