Truancy Services
Truancy Officer
The RO programme is intended to compliment the work of truancy officers, not replace it. The role truancy services play in RO will depend on how truancy services operate in your area, however, it is likely they will:
Attend monthly meetings
Provide relevant information about prior involvement with truancy services and any relevant background factors for young persons on RO
Contribute to intervention if appropriate
Currently the Nth, Central & Sth DTS services fully encompass RO
All these services are very pro active in their areas
Child Youth & Family
For some of the young persons on RO a FGC will be held, thus, building an effective working relationship with the appropriate Care & Protection Coordinator/s is important. It is not necessary for the Coordinator to attend RO meetings
It is possible that the young persons on RO will have current involvement with either a CYF or a Youth Justice Social Worker, depending on their age and whether or not they are currently offending. Because of this a supervisor of either Youth Justice or Care & Protection team would be a suitable person to become part of the RO team
Attend monthly RO meetings
Provide relevant information about historic or current involvement with CYF and any relevant background factors for young persons on RO
Contribute to intervention if appropriate
Attend informal hui and/or FGC if appropriate
Respond appropriately to any notifications made about young persons on RO
