Attendance at School
The safety of all students is important
Schools need to know on a daily basis where the students enrolled in their school are.
Parents need to know that when they send their children to school they are actually there.
Parents (generally) do want their children to do well at school - for many there is no second chance, so if children miss out then the chances of a successful future may be effected.
Irregular attendance at school even at an early age, means that children quickly fall behind in learning.
Through irregular attendance, children miss out on the social side of school life. This often means that it becomes difficult to make and keep friendships.
Future employment prospects are effected if children have poor attendance records.
Lateness often leads to problems and such disruptions do impact on learning and other children in class.
There is evidence that some young people who miss school regularly for unjustified reasons finish up in anti-social behavior or crime.
